Garia Welfare Society is a Civil Society Organization, (a non-profitable voluntary organization) working since 2009, concerned basically with the ecological imbalance developed alarmingly in our planet over past several years. Mobilization of public opinion against the indiscriminate usage of plastic in our day to day life is, therefore, one of the prime businesses of GWS. Besides, deforestation, dehydration of water bodies, detonation of purchasable bombs and fire chakras at random are also some of the many areas where also GWS pays due attention to. Apart from ecology the Society also undertakes activities relating to general health and hygiene of its milieu. In this regard, GWS organizes Blood Donation Camps, free Eye Check up Camps, free Cervical, Breast and Oral cancer detection camps. In a ward, GWS does not hesitate to take up any issue pertaining social welfare and benefit provided that it is within the purview of the ideology and principle of the society and also that it is within the capacity of the society, with the backup of local self Government, the Government of West Bengal and of course, local generous and conscious people. GWS endeavors tirelessly to eliminate any kind of nuisance from our surroundings to build up a wholesome society of everyone’s dream. GWS is currently engaged in awareness program on Cervical Cancer, Breast Cancer and Oral Cancer. Started immunization program by vaccinating girls against cervical cancer in the age group 9 – 14 years in neighboring girl schools. GWS is also engaged in arranging Blood Donation Camps with the support of State Blood Transfusion Council, West Bengal and free cataract operation with active support from Susrut Eye Foundation Hospital, Salt Lake. With the skill Development initiative among the unemployed youth, GWS has been working on development of linkage with different banks for successful entrepreneurship development.
