Symptoms of Cancer

Listen to Your Body

Cancer symptoms can vary widely. Some people have no symptoms at all. However, knowing the general signs can save your life.

The "CAUTION" Signs

C
Change in bowel or bladder habits
A
A sore that does not heal
U
Unusual bleeding or discharge
T
Thickening or lump in breast or elsewhere
I
Indigestion or difficulty in swallowing
O
Obvious change in a wart or mole
N
Nagging cough or hoarseness

General Symptoms

  • Unexplained weight loss (5 kg or more)
  • Fatigue that doesn't get better with rest
  • Fever that keeps coming back
  • Pain that doesn't go away
  • Skin changes (darker, yellowish, or red)

When to see a doctor?

Do not panic. Many of these symptoms are also caused by other, far less serious conditions.

However, if you have any symptom that lasts for more than 2 weeks, you must see a doctor.

Tip: Keep a symptom diary. Note when it started, if it hurts, and if anything makes it better or worse. This helps your doctor immensely.
